Biography

I have raced karts from 2013-2016. This was at club level kart meetings and Hillclimb and other tarmac events.
Before karting I started on two wheels.
I competed at club level ACU motocross Since 1987 stopping in approx. 2006 but started back up again this year and hoping to do enduro events later this year.
I competed at club level ACU trials 1988 up until 2006
I have been an ACU Trials British championship minder 2000-2004. This was for a local rider who travelled to the mainland to compete. A minder has to assist in spotting lines and discussing options on each section and then giving advice throughout the section. This teaches you to give only the necessary information in a short sentence to not overwhelm the rider who is needing this information but also trying to ride a motorbike.
I competed in club level ACU Sand racing 1988 up until 1996
I travelled with a different local rider racing in ACU Grass track mechanic 1998-2001. This was just as mechanic, but found myself supporting rider moral on the bad days.
I have competed in ACU tarmac events such as Hillclimbs and Sprints from 1997-2006
I was an ACU clerk of the course at motocross once I picked up an injury. Again, this has taught me a better understanding of the rules and regulations and why they are in place.

CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
This is not Motorsport related but as a qualified paramedic I have been given training and had driver tuition. This course covers human errors and how to best protect yourself from making them but also covers red mist and controlling adrenaline. I feel a lot of my learning on this course has benefited my racing and coaching career.As a MSUK Paramedic covering local events and on the mainland at Oulton Park and Anglesey assisting with medical cover 2016 to present. I feel this has given me great insight into the safety of sport as firstly a competitor but then on the ambulances. I feel like this gives me great respect for safety and also more evidence based reasoning to promote safe racing.

Biography

Although still an active racer, i personally feel a greater sense of achievement when I'm able to work with someone achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

An active coach with Thruxton Motorsport Centre, companies that provide race cars for hire, Motorsport Charites and people that reach out for help.

I am still being coached, as I believe there is always something that can be done to find improvements in both my driving and coaching.

Over the last 3 years i have won my class in 26 out of 28 races i have entered, in doing so i hold the class lap record at 10 circuits my championship has raced at. All races being incident free and clean.

I started Karting at the age of 13 in Rotax. I have won numerous Club Championships. I have raced all over Europe and into Brazil.
I have represented Team UK on 2 occasions.
I have won 2 British Karting Championships in Rotax and KZ2 and The British Open Championship.

I’m Michael, with over Thirty years experience in the Motorsport world, I deliver driver coaching as a Motorsport Coach. I specialise in enhancing driver performance through tailored coaching to race and track day clients across front, rear, and all-wheel drive vehicles. My work aims to build confidence, speed, consistency, improve safety, and refine vehicle handling techniques for diverse driving scenarios.

In addition, supporting clients as a Driver Trainer and Driving Consultant, my focus includes fleet training for new recruits and post-collision drivers, as well as road-driving instruction on specialised surfaces.
