Investing back into the future of UK karting
The Motorsport UK Kart Development Fund provides financial support to affiliated kart clubs for projects that help grow participation, improve safety, enhance the competitor experience and strengthen the long-term future of karting in the UK.
Established in 2023 following the introduction of Motorsport UK’s kart homologation regulations, the Fund reinvests into the sport a community contribution generated through the sale of homologated kart engines and tyres.
Whether your club wants to attract new competitors, improve event delivery, introduce new technology, strengthen safety provision or engage with its local community, the Kart Development Fund could help turn that idea into reality.
What could the Fund support?
We want clubs to think broadly about projects that can make a measurable difference to karting.
Funding could support projects including:
- Initiatives to attract and retain new competitors
- Safety projects and safety-related education
- Sustainability initiatives
- Event promotion, marketing and live streaming
- Community engagement and outreach
- Accessibility and participation projects
- Scrutineering and technical equipment
- Safeguarding and volunteer development
- Incentives or prizes designed to encourage participation
- Technology that improves the organisation or delivery of karting events

Who can apply?
The Kart Development Fund is available to Motorsport UK affiliated kart clubs and organisations that support a minimum of five Motorsport UK permitted events each year.
Applications should explain:
- What your club is proposing
- Who will benefit
- What difference the project will make
- How it will contribute to the continued development of karting
Funding levels
Up to £1,000: Smaller applications may be considered without a requirement for matched funding.
Over £1,000: Clubs should normally expect the project to be match-funded.

The Fund in action
Shenington Kart Racing Club: investing in digital infrastructure
Shenington Kart Racing Club received support from the Kart Development Fund to install a fibre network covering approximately three quarters of its circuit.
The investment helped the club improve the quality and resilience of its live-streaming infrastructure, upgrade connectivity to its timing building and CCTV system, and put infrastructure in place capable of supporting future developments such as connected marshal posts and light panels.
The technology was subsequently used to live stream the club’s Autumn Breeze meeting, which attracted more than 230 competitors.
The project shows how a single investment can support promotion, event delivery, infrastructure and future safety development.
Promoting karting to a wider audience
The Kart Development Fund has also supported clubs with marketing and promotional activity, helping them showcase what they offer and reach potential new competitors and participants.
Funding has been used for promotional materials and live-streaming activity, helping clubs increase the visibility of their events beyond those attending the circuit.
Supporting safer karting
Funding has also supported the production of filmed safety information for track users, giving clubs another way to communicate important information consistently and professionally.
Projects do not necessarily need to involve physical infrastructure. Education, communication and initiatives that improve standards across the sport can also be considered.
