All Scrutineers are reminded of the important role they play in ensuring every competing vehicle presents a valid Vehicle Passport at scrutineering, where required under the National Competition Rules.
As part of these checks, Scrutineers should ensure that all information recorded within the Vehicle Passport is up to date and accurate. Vehicles should also be inspected in line with the relevant category safety requirements detailed within the Passport, confirming this matches the category in which the vehicle is entered.
Following any on-event incident, vehicles must be re-presented to the Scrutineers in accordance with NCR Ch.7 App.12 Art.1.5 and, specifically for Sprint and Hill Climb events, Ch.14 App.1 Art.4.3.
Where damage is considered severe enough to require reinspection following repair, or where there is significant structural damage to either the shell or the ROPS, the Scrutineer should retain the Vehicle Passport and record the details of the damage within the Comments by Officials section.
The Vehicle Passport should then be returned to Motorsport UK so the damage can be logged against the vehicle record. Motorsport UK will then liaise directly with the competitor regarding any required reinspection and the re-issue of the Vehicle Passport.
These checks remain an essential part of Motorsport UK’s incident recording and safety processes. By carrying them out thoroughly and consistently, you are helping to support the continued improvement of safety standards across the sport.
