Motorsport UK has underlined its commitment to sustainability, environmental management and continual improvement by successfully renewing its FIA 3 Star Environmental Accreditation for the third time.
The FIA’s Accreditation Programme is designed to enable motorsport organisations to measure and enhance their environmental performance and the prestigious 3 Star rating is reserved for those demonstrating best practice and a commitment to continual improvement.
Motorsport UK first gained FIA 3 Star status in October 2022 and since then its sustainability procedures have been verified regularly against the FIA’s wide-reaching environmental accreditation process.
Motorsport UK’s Sustainability Manager Simon Wright Jones said: “We are fully committed to the protection of the environment and we are delighted to have once again demonstrated that we are working at the highest level.”
“It is important that we lead the way as an organisation, continually improving sustainability within our operations, and we are also committed to working with our member clubs to ensure that they have all the support they need to do the same.”
Plotting the right course
The renewal assessment was completed in two stages – a paperwork evaluation followed by an on-site assessment in which inspectors evaluated how effectively the organisation’s environmental policies, processes and procedures were being implemented in practice.
The audit highlighted a clear commitment to environmental management from the central team and identified various initiatives that demonstrate efforts to engage the wider business in sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint.
The audit concluded that the Motorsport UK team had fully embraced the requirements of the Accreditation and was committed to making further improvements through its objectives, targets and carbon footprint reduction initiatives.
