For 25 years, the Motorsport UK Young Media Awards have celebrated emerging talent telling the stories of British motorsport.
The awards are split into Young Photographer of the Year and new for this year, the Young Creative of the Year. The awards are given to any under 30-year-old motorsport media talent, who have made an impact and demonstrated their storytelling skills through their work.
With the 2026 Motorsport UK Young Media Awards just around the corner, we spoke with previous Young Photographer of the Year winners, to see what they’re up to now, and how winning the award shaped their careers.
Alex Stefan – 2025 Winner
For 2025 winner Alex Stefan, the award has already opened doors to some of motorsport’s biggest stages.
Having built his portfolio around stage rallying and automotive photography, Alex’s victory provided the opportunity to photograph the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, an experience that subsequently led to photographing the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix and securing a commercial collaboration with Volkswagen UK.
Now expanding his portfolio into circuit racing, Alex credits the award with helping turn a long-held ambition into reality.
“It’s an incredible launchpad for a young photographer’s career. My biggest advice for anyone thinking of entering is to focus on variety across your submission. Don’t play it safe!”
2023 Season Winner – Dom Vincent
After coming close to winning in 2022, the following year saw Dom return to claim the Young Photographer of the Year title, recognising his dedication to developing his craft.
Since winning, he has continued to build his career with GT Report, becoming its lead photographer for British GT and covering international championships including GT World Challenge Europe and the European Le Mans Series.
Among his proudest achievements is photographing the 2024 British Grand Prix trackside, an opportunity he once thought was beyond reach.
“My advice would be to go for it; you never know what can happen. Winning the award can open several doors for great opportunities.”
Adam Piggott – 2014 Winner
Winning the Young Photographer of the Year Award in 2014 proved to be a turning point for Adam Piggott, giving him the confidence to pursue new opportunities, including photographing the British Grand Prix.
Having initially focused on endurance racing, Adam has since built a successful career covering a range of motorsport championships.
Today, he works across multiple series and is the lead photographer for the British Rally Championship, a role particularly close to his heart.
“Don’t decide for yourself that your work isn’t good enough, because who knows, you might surprise yourself.”
Drew Gibson – 2007 and 2008 Winner
As the first photographer to win the award twice, in 2007 and 2008, Drew Gibson is a shining example of where a career in motorsport photography can lead.
His early success gave him the confidence to establish himself in the industry, eventually launching his own photography business in 2012.
Today, Drew works extensively across the FIA World Endurance Championship, photographing for major manufacturers and teams including Aston Martin, Ford, McLaren, BMW and Genesis, having achieved the career he set out to build.
“It gave me the confidence that I could make a career out of motorsport photography. And that’s exactly what I did.”
