FIA Eco Rally Scotland returns to Dundee this weekend (1/2 August) and round eight of the 2026 FIA Eco Rally Cup brings an international electric motorsport event to the UK two weeks ahead of the FIA Formula E World Championship season finale in London.
Following the success of the inaugural Eco Rally Scotland event last year, this weekend’s event is held alongside StreetCar Festival Scotland. A host of grassroots motorsport and family-friendly experiences, including autotest passenger rides, a touring assembly and Esport simulators, will take place across the weekend at John Clark Motor Group on Broomhill Road.
The festivities will begin with the public Eco Rally Scotland Ceremonial Start from 18:30 on Friday 31 July. The cars will be scrutineered on site before the competitors are waved off by local dignitaries accompanied by the sound of bagpipes. Teams from nine nations will be representing EV manufacturers including Alpine, Cupra, DS, Hyundai, Lancia, Kia, Polestar, Skoda, Tesla and VW. Competitors include Guido Guerrini, the reigning FIA Eco Rally Cup Champion from San Marino, 2024 Scottish Rally Championship Challenger Champion Johnnie Mackay and Formula 1 content creator Brandon Burgess, AKA Full Time Formula.
Once underway, the competitors will get fully stuck into the action on Saturday following a driver briefing and issue of the route. Exploring the beautiful Scottish landscape, each team of driver and co-driver will need to follow the exact itinerary within a set time. Since the competitors are on open public roads, they must observe speed limits but will be able to score points for efficient use of energy, monitored by the FIA judges.
For the competitors, Eco Rally Scotland offers a unique challenge of competing in an FIA international event running in a similar format to navigational rallies – one of the most accessible forms of motorsport. The location provides a stunning route filled with challenging roads and spectacular views making this the ultimate electric-powered road trip.
Each team will complete stages on both Saturday and Sunday before heading to Abertay University for the finish, followed by the Eco Rally Scotland podium. Last year Czech Republic duo Michal Žďárský and Jakub Nábělek won the event, with Hyundai taking the manufacturer spoils.
With events organised by the Scottish Association of Motor Sport Clubs, including Saltire Rally Club, Glenrothes Motor Sport Club and 750 Motor Club (Scotland), Eco Rally Scotland and StreetCar Festival Scotland will bring motorsport fever to Dundee.
