If you’re thinking of getting behind the wheel for the first time, wondering what car, team or championship to choose next, or fancy trying out as a volunteer, grab a free ticket to next month’s BRSCC’s Driven by Racing event.
On November 14-15, the Silverstone National Circuit will celebrate all things grassroots, showcasing the many different opportunities for Motorsport UK license holders to get involved on track and off.
Visitors will experience Club motorsport first hand – with the chance to discuss racing options, meet teams, try out machinery (subject to availability) and shop for products. Newcomers can even take their ARDS test on site with The Motorsports School.
Find a racing series
The British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) runs more than 20 championships and series and hosts more than 30 race meetings every season, making it one of the most influential and active Clubs in UK motor racing.
Its events span circuits across the UK, with a portfolio that caters for all tastes, budgets and age brackets. These range from its popular one-make Mini, Mazda or Fiesta Championships right up to the prestigious British GT Championship.
Detailed plans for the event are still developing, but for competitors it will include race car test drives, ‘Meet the Race Team’ events, race simulator competitions and the opportunity to take or book an ARDS Test.
Many professional teams that operate in the BRSCC’s various championships will be on site, including representatives from Mazda MX-5, Fiesta Juniors, Audi TTCR, Fiesta ST240 and ST150, BMW Compact Cup and City Car Cup.
Get skilled off the track
Those who prefer to be off-track will also find plenty of activities, with training programmes for existing marshals and demonstrations of rescue unit, scrutineering and officials processes running throughout the weekend.
Experts from each area will also be available to answer any questions and provide a guide to the recruitment process – and anyone who likes what they see can sign up and start their journey straight away.
The BRSCC itself is also on the lookout for volunteers to support their racers and events, and staff at the Club will be on hand to discuss opportunities to get involved as a Championship or Series co-ordinator.
