Motorsport UK has outlined the process for competitors applying for technical eligibility exemptions on medical grounds. This ensures that applications are assessed consistently and in line with recognised medical and legal standards.

Process for technical exemptions (on medical grounds)

The process begins when a competitor declares a relevant medical condition during their licence application or renewal.

This declaration is reviewed by the Chief Medical Officer, who will assess the information provided and advise on any next steps required. This may include further information or clarification to support the application.

Technical exemptions on medical grounds are considered in line with disabilities that meet the definition set out in the UK Equality Act. This ensures that all applications are handled fairly and consistently.

For any competitor requiring support or guidance with a medical exemption, the Motorsport UK Member Services Team is the first point of contact. They can provide advice on the process and next steps.
