12 days of StreetCar: Looking back at StreetCar Festival…

Friday 13 December 2024

2024 saw our inaugural StreetCar Festival take place in our Bicester Motion home, celebrating grassroots motorsport and its vibrant community across the UK.

Launched in 2022, StreetCar was created to demonstrate that motorsport is affordable and accessible to all, encouraging more people to get behind the wheel and enjoy the sport. There are now 67 clubs that are part of the StreetCar community across the country.

The programme provides the opportunity to take part in a variety of disciplines, including Autotest, Rally and Trials and Cross Country events. From Treasure Hunts to Navigational Rally and Historic Rally events, all 12 disciplines can be enjoyed with a standard unmodified road car. A free valid RS Clubman licence is required and the standard vehicle must be unmodified.

Local motor club, South Oxon Car Club, kicked off the event by leading a Touring Assembly, offering a 50 mile scenic tour starting and finishing at Bicester Motion.

Pioneering rally organisation, HERO-ERA, and Blackpalfrey Motor Club the Table Top led a table top rally from inside our HQ, exposing navigators to the kinds of tips and tricks that rally organisers may use when planning a route.

Other events also took place across the site, with Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics leading a Punch Hunt on Bicester Motion’s off-road track and local StreetCar club, Oxford Motor Club, laid on an AutoSOLO taster event at the festival, providing a typical test layout to introduce newcomers to AutoSOLO.

Loughborough Car Club, who play a pivotal role in the Disabled Drivers Scholarship programme with Motorsport UK, lead the AutoSOLO test at the festival, providing a competition test layout on which competitors aimed to get the fastest time in their own vehicles.

We also welcomed Alastair Moffat on the day, who had recently clinched his tenth Motorsport UK British Autotest Championship.
