Wigton Motor Club picks up accolade at Classic Car & Restoration Show
Wigton Motor Club received the Car Club of the Year Award at last weekend’s Classic Car & Restoration Show, sponsored by Practical Classics Magazine.
Club member Daniel Rooney was awarded the accolade of Restoration of the Year for his MK 1 Mini.
Club Secretary Graeme Forrester commented, “Wigton Motor Club are delighted to have won the Car Club of the Year. It is a tribute to the hard work of our members in building our Club Headquarters and putting on a full programme of events for our motorsport members and our classic car owners.”
Founded in 1923, Wigton is one of the biggest car clubs in the North of the UK, welcoming over 1,000 members from across Cumbria, Scotland and the North East. A founding member of Motorsport UK’s StreetCar initiative, Wigton offers a varied events programme, including Autotests, Historic and Targa rallies and the ever-popular Cumbria Classic Weekend from its headquarters: The Club House.
Motorsport UK’s StreetCar programme provides the opportunity to join a vibrant community of 67 clubs across the country and take part in a variety of motorsport disciplines and events. From Treasure Hunts to Navigational Rally and Historic Rally events, all 12 disciplines can be enjoyed with a standard unmodified road car and a valid RS Clubman licence.
