Ambulance for Ukraine to be displayed at Bicester Flywheel; Call for donations to reach £60,000

Friday 16 June 2023

At Bicester Flywheel, Motorsport UK will display the armoured ambulance it will buy to send to Ukraine and encourage attendees to provide the final donations to fund its purchase.

Motorsport UK launched the fundraising campaign in 2022 in solidarity and support with the Federation Automobile d’Ukraine (FAU), the Ukrainian motorsport community and the Ukrainian people.

The fundraising campaign has so far raised £41,000 with a target of £60,000 required to purchase the Pinzgauer 6×6 armoured ambulance.

The vehicle will be on display at Bicester Flywheel on 17/18 June and Motorsport UK will be available to receive both cash and card donations and will invite donors to send messages of support and solidarity to the Ukrainian people.

Further donations can be made online at www.gofundme.com/motorsportuk

On the Motorsport UK activation at Flywheel, Daniel Geoghegan, Bicester Heritage CEO commented, “Flywheel places our community spirit at the forefront this weekend, a fitting event to support this initiative from Motorsport UK in support of the Ukrainian motorsport community and Ukrainian people.  We wish them every success in fund raising, truly a vehicle for change.”

UK motorsport community show their support

Members of the Motorsport UK community have been active in their support and promotion. The Northern Ireland motorsport community and British Motor Sport Training Trust provided donations and messages of support, joining further donors such as the BTRDA, the Association of Motorsport Recovery Operators and many others.

Motorsport UK licence holder and Hillclimb competitor, Christopher Wigdor, swapped the livery of his 1967 Mallock Mk 6B/8 in period 1600cc Formula 2 trim to Ukraine’s national colours with many other competitors showing support through stickers, badges and much more.

Fynn Watt, a Motorsport UK licence holder and Rallycross competitor, has also been supporting initiatives to get vehicles and supplies to Ukraine medical teams, making seven trips to the nation.
