Nicky Moffitt

A career banker in Northern Ireland, Nicky Moffitt worked in the industry from 1970 to 2011, retiring as Business Manager with a responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients in Mid Ulster area.

Always involved in motorsport through family who competed in the 1950’s and 1960’s in all forms of rallying and autotesting in Ireland, Nicky joined his local Motor Club as a junior in the mid 1960’s marshalling and managing results services. From the 1970’s through to the present day, Nicky held the role of Clerk of the Course and event official across numerous grassroots events.

Nicky first competed in motorsport in 1971, participating regularly as a driver and co-driver across all rally disciplines, Autotests and Sprints through to 1985. Alongside many outright victories, Nicky was the 1979 Northern Ireland Stage Rally Champion co-driver and was third overall driver in the Northern Ireland Championship in 1984.

A Motorsport UK Steward since 1975, Nicky currently undertakes these duties most weekends during the year, covering all disciplines and grades up to international level for Motorsport UK and the FIA. In 2015 Nicky was appointed to the role of Safety Delegate and is now one of 11 delegates who undertake safety overview work at all stage rallies under a Motorsport UK permit.

In 1981 Nicky was elected as Honorary Secretary at the Association of Northern Ireland Car Clubs (ANICC) and stood down from that role in January 2020 to concentrate on Motorsport UK matters, having been the direct representative of Northern Ireland for all that time. Nicky was also Chair of the Motorsport UK Regional Committee from 2006 until 2019 when he also represented grassroots motorsport on the Board.

Nicky’s commitment to the sport continued in January 2020 when he became Chair of Motorsport UK Rallies Committee and was subsequently re-elected as one of three Council representatives to the Board of Motorsport UK from 2020. Nicky is also Vice-Chair of the Council, a role he’s held since 2006.
