BRMC launches rally and cross-country marshals taster days
Motorsport UK’s British Rally Marshals Club (BRMC) has launched a new initiative aimed at attracting more rally and cross-country marshals to the sport.
The seven-event programme of taster days aims to give newcomers and those unfamiliar with these disciplines the opportunity to experience volunteering opportunities associated with the events and ‘get closer to the action, safely.’
The taster days are a perfect opportunity for those interested in motorsport to gain insight into the different roles that marshals play in ensuring the safety and smooth-running of events.
The first taster days were held at the beginning of March at Walters Arena and the first round of the 2023 Defender Rally Championships by Bowler. Attendees were able to witness all the different roles involved, including radio control, service area duties, and the role of safety services.
The initiative was well-received by attendees, who expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for the experience and the wide range of opportunities available.
The BRMC has provided a calendar of events on their website, including the next event, the Twyford Wood Targa on 13 May. Further taster days are planned throughout the year, providing ample opportunities for newcomers and those unfamiliar with these disciplines to experience marshalling in a safe and supportive environment.
You never know where it might lead you in the exciting world of motorsport marshalling! Motorsport UK registered marshals are so highly trained and regarded that they are in high demand across the globe; over 500 British marshals regularly attend a wide range of overseas events, at the invitation of the organisers, to share their expertise.
