Up to Speed: 22 – 23 October 2022

Friday 21 October 2022

A raft of British Championship action, including the conclusion of the inaugural British Endurance Championship, headlines the bill on another weekend of motorsport in the UK.

Let’s get you up to speed:

British Endurance Championship – Donington Park (GP)

With no dropped scores left to factor in, Donington Park will play host to a blockbuster finale to the inaugural British Endurance Championship season.

Chris Goddard and Charlie Hollings currently lead the way on 144 points in their RNR Performance-run Ferrari 458, just two points clear of Wayne Marrs and Tom Jackson in the Rob Boston Racing-prepared Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The two race in different classes, and have been regular fixtures on the top step of their respective podiums. The Ferrari is set for a perhaps tougher opposition ‘in class’, so maintaining that winning form will be pivotal for Goddard and Hollings to lift the coveted crown.

Third overall, and finely poised to strike should misfortune befall the two crews ahead is the MKH Racing Aston Martin GT4, in the hands of Peter Montague and Stuart Hall.

British Drift Pro Championship – Snetterton

Ollie Evans looks destined to lift the 2022 Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship crown at Snetterton this weekend, with a 70-point leading heading to the Norfolk venue.

Evans’ nearest challenge is Josh King – victor last time out at Brands Hatch – and he will be hoping for a repeat performance to annex second in the standings, just 10 further points in turn clear of third-placed Lwi Edwards.

Also on the bill at Snetterton this weekend is the TCR UK Touring Car Championship finale, with Chris Smiley, the Team UK entry for the Touring Car discipline at the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games, heading into the weekend tied level at the championship summit with Isaac Smith.

Three StreetCar events headline another vibrant weekend of club motorsport up and down the UK this weekend.

From Scotland to Sevenoaks, AutoSOLO action will continue to offer ‘thrill a minute’ motorsport at a cost-effective price, with only a standard road car, club membership and a free Motorsport UK RS Clubman licence needed to compete.

North of the border, the Scottish Sporting Car Club are running their Winter AutoSOLO and Test, and nearby is Navigational Training, courtesy of the Saltire Rally Club.

Down in Sevenoaks, the Sevenoaks and District Motor Club will host the Ashford Cattle Market AutoSOLO. To find out more about StreetCar, and how to get involved, visit the dedicated website: https://streetcarmotorsportuk.com/
