Henry Joslyn makes his mark at FIA Karting Academy Trophy
Henry Joslyn made his mark at the opening round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Genk, Belgium, overcoming a difficult start by moving up 20 places in the Final.
Held at the Karting Genk, affectionately known as the “Home of Champions” from 12 – 15 May, the British representative, supported by the Motorsport UK Academy, faced off against 54 Academy Class competitors, all aged from 12-14.
He opened the weekend with P11 in Heat 1 but a first lap incident meant he was a DNF in Heat 2 and he had an upwards battle to make the final ahead of him. The resilient youngster, who recently opened his Wera Tools British Kart Championships campaign with victory in the X30, battled back and a P7 in Heat 3 saw him qualify for the final, starting P28 in a pack of 36.
Over the 23-lap final, Joslyn fought his way through the pack to come through in P8, putting good points on the board in the Championship standings.
On his weekend, Joslyn commented, “I learnt a lot from my first round in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. Not the start I wanted but really happy to make up 20 places in the final and get a top 10 finish. Heading back to the UK now to prepare for Warden Law next weekend in the Wera Tools BKC.”
Arthur Dorison (FRA) took the event win and was followed by William John Riley Go of the Philippines and Luxembourg’s Guillaume Bouzar.
The FIA Karting Academy Trophy heads to Cremona, Italy from 16-19 June. The competition concludes in Le Mans, France in September.
