To celebrate World Youth Skills Day, we reflect on events Motorsport UK held earlier this week as part of the Motorsport UK Academy and FIA Girls on Track initiative.

On Tuesday, our FIA Girls on Track UK team invited young girls from local schools to the Silverstone Interactive Museum to take part in a plethora of activities which aim to inspire, enhance their skills, and provide them with insight into the various opportunities within the UK motorsport industry. The students had a hands-on experience at a pit stop, tested their reflexes, as well as hearing from Kathryn Richards, Wind Tunnel Technician at Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, and Brands Hatch Chief Medical Officer and Formula E race doctor Dr Clare Morden.

Our Motorsport UK Academy Sporting Excellence drivers visited the Bicester Hotel, Golf and Spa training base for the very first time to take part in a number of activities to develop their skills set. These focused on developing essential skills away from the track and included assault courses, raft building and paddle boarding. These activities were to instil key learnings in leadership, confidence, teamwork, problem solving and communication, all of which are vital in motorsport.
