Motorsport in the UK should be accessible, inclusive and representative of society – and at Motorsport UK, we are working hard to develop programmes that deliver exactly that.
People from all backgrounds are now getting more and more opportunities to discover motorsport, from pulling on the orange overalls at the British Grand Prix to jumping into a kart and trying out the sport from behind the wheel for the very first time. These are some of the initiatives Motorsport UK has in place to encourage a more diverse sport:
Girls on Track UK
Girls on Track gives women and girls aged 8-18 inspiration to get involved in motorsport by showcasing successful women in the pit and paddock, including team principles, mechanics, presenters and engineers. The initiative connects like-minded members via an active online Facebook community and offers interactive webinars and in-person events.

Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy
This initiative introduces girls aged 8-15 to karting and gives them the opportunity to progress to higher levels. Run at TeamSport venues across the UK, with no previous experience required, the sessions provide the perfect environment for participants to build confidence, develop driving skills and explore a pathway into competitive karting.

Race for Diversity
This inclusive community supports young people from underrepresented and racially diverse backgrounds who are interested in motorsport. The online Discord community brings members together, while exclusive events help to build connections and provide valuable insight into the industry and potential STEM and motorsport careers.

Motorsport UK StreetCar
StreetCar offers a low-cost way of getting involved in motorsport by allowing competitors to use their everyday road car in a whole range of events. Accessible to anyone with a free RS Clubman licence, these events are run by Clubs all around the country and offer a fun way to experience motorsport in a safe, social and supportive environment.

Motorsport UK Disabled Driver Scholarship
This initiative takes away the obstacles that can make it difficult for disabled drivers to take part in motorsport. Delivered in partnership with Loughborough Car Club, the scholarships offer anyone over the age of 14 a chance to be awarded a fully funded season of competition, including access to adapted vehicles and dedicated support.

Online racing is an increasingly popular entry point for the next generation and this free Hub opens up access to guidance, opportunities and connections. It provides information on equipment, platforms, competitions, coaching and trusted esports communities, with a paid upgrade unlocking discounts on equipment, coaching and setups and event access.

Become a Motorsport Accelerator
This online course is designed to help grow diversity in motorsport by helping people to develop fun and inclusive motorsport events and environments. Designed for volunteers, parents, Club organisers, coaches and enthusiasts aged 17 and over, it encourages new skills, improves understanding and builds confidence to grow the sport.
