The Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy is helping to drive greater female participation in motorsport and with the next taster days on 11th August, girls from as young as 8-years-old can get started this summer.
The Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy, delivered with TeamSport indoor karting, is a safe and inclusive space for newcomers to the sport. The taster days are run at 14 different venues across the country with a mixture of on track learning and off track games and support teaching vital racing skills – it’s a great summer holiday day out!
Karting is a great way to get competing in motorsport at a young age with many different pathways from arrive-and-drive, where the kart is hired at each event, to full ownership. Events and championships can be entered locally, nationally and internationally at indoor and outdoor race venues and there are options to race petrol-powered or electric karts.
The Girls Karting Academy is specially designed to be the first step into the discipline for girls, giving an environment in which they can allow their talents to thrive before going on to compete in mixed categories. The most promising drivers also have the opportunity to qualify for a Girls Karting Academy Scholarship, which funds their early forays into competition.
Girls Karting Academy taster sessions are being held at TeamSport venues throughout the country on Tuesday, 11th August but if you’re away on holiday, there are more opportunities during half-term later this year.
