StreetCar and Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club showcase motorsport opportunities for future talent
Motorsport UK’s StreetCar initiative, in collaboration with Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club, held a successful event at Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) introducing pathways into motorsport from grassroots upwards.
The event at Stafford College, brought together learners, families, and prospective students, offering attendees the chance to connect with industry professionals and gain insights from guest speakers.
Paul Price, Club Development, Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club comments, “The idea was that if you can create this business model that can be rolled out across the country… it’s not about me gaining from it, it’s not about Wolverhampton Car Club gaining from it… it’s bigger than that.”
Chris Sunderland, Mechanical Engineering Lecturer at NSCG, adds, “The response to our Introduction to Motorsport Evening has been truly exceptional. The event demonstrated our passion and commitment to motorsport education and inclusion of the clubs and employers in our region.
“The partnership with Motorsport UK and Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club allowed us to showcase the range of pathways into motorsport, from grassroots participation to professional roles.”
Launched in 2022, StreetCar enables anyone to get behind the wheel of their car and enjoy grassroots motorsport, by joining an event at their local motor club. Disciplines including Autotest, Car Trials, Cross-Country and Road Rallying can be enjoyed with a standard unmodified road car and a free RS Clubman licence.
