Two British Competitors Reach FIA Rising Stars Finals
The chance to potentially join the Ferrari Driver Academy is now a very real possibility for Chloe Chong and Chloe Grant who have made it through to the Senior finals of the FIA’s Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme.
The programme aims to identify the best 12-16 year-old female drivers from around the world and help them reach a professional career in motorsport.
Chong and Grant joined 14 promising talents from around the world to train and compete at the Circuit Paul Ricard for just eight places in the finals at the Ferrari Driver Academy in November. The intensive few days saw on-track shootouts and training camps at the Winfield Racing School in Le Castellet.
They will join Alice Buckley (Australia) and Aurelia Nobels (Belgium) as the four drivers travel to Maranello, Italy – where they will undertake the final decisive stage at the world-famous Ferrari Driver Academy.
One of these drivers will ultimately win the senior category and be afforded the exciting opportunity to become the third female to have the chance to join the Ferrari Driver Academy.
They will receive valuable developmental help as they begin their professional career in motorsport, including the chance to compete in the Formula 4 Italian Championship with FIA Girls on Track’s partner, the Iron Dames project.
Chloe Chong, FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars Finalist, said:
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be selected for the FIA-FDA Scouting Camp in Maranello, something I never even dreamed of before last week. I would really like to thank everyone for believing in me and supporting me along the way, it’s been a real journey.
“In the next few weeks I will be hard at work preparing for the next stage of the competition, so that I’ll be ready in November to perform to the best level I can but above all, enjoy it with Chloe, Aurelia and Alice!”
Chloe Grant, FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars Finalist, added:
“I had an incredible week away at Paul Ricard with the FIA Girls on Track. I learnt a lot from Winfield Racing School on a number of things, especially about F4. 321 Performance certainly put us through our paces too in warm up, training, and cool down sessions. It was just a fantastic experience overall. I am so happy to have made it through the final. The competition is strong!
“I owe a big thank you to Motorsport UK for creating this opportunity for me. From now up to the final at Maranello I’ll be working harder than ever to make sure I’m as fit and prepared as can be. I’m in it to win it.”
