Team UK storms to Silver in GT class
Team UK Captain Christopher Froggatt and second Driver James Cottingham took silver in the GT category at the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games, the second podium of this year’s event.
For Froggatt, from Surrey, this edition of the Games meant business, following missing out on competing at the 2022 edition due to illness. Track limit penalties saw the duo miss out to Germany, despite leading the field with a P1 position post Qualifying.
James commented, “We won on the road, we had a very, very close race, I was second for my first stint and right on the bumper of Germany for P1, but Chris managed a mega move in the final stages of the race. Unfortunately we had one too many track limit warnings and received a penalty that put us behind them after the race, so silver, not gold. We had a really good race.”
GT racing enjoys a very strong tradition at the FIA Motorsport Games, stretching back to the inaugural edition in 2019.
This year, Team UK has its strongest cohort yet, with 24 competitors flying the flag, the largest representation of UK motorsport talent to date.
