South Oxon Car Club to lead on Touring Assembly at Motorsport UK’s first ever grassroots motorsport festival

Wednesday 07 August 2024

Local motor club, South Oxon Car Club, will lead the Touring Assembly element of Motorsport UK’s first ever grassroots motorsport festival: StreetCar Festival on 8 September.

The planned route will offer drivers a 50 mile scenic tour starting and finishing at Bicester Motion which entries will navigate with an easy to follow Tulip road book. Drivers will use their own vehicle to take part.

Launched in 2022, StreetCar makes grassroots motorsport accessible, encouraging anyone to get behind the wheel of their car and join an event at their local motor club. Disciplines including Autotest, Car Trials, Cross-Country and Road Rallying can be enjoyed for minimal cost, with a standard unmodified road car and a free RS Clubman licence available online.

The StreetCar Festival will take place on 8 September, celebrating the UK’s vibrant grassroots motorsport community.  Attendees will need a ticket to attend the event, with the option to take part in many of the 12 StreetCar disciplines, enjoy their first taste of motorsport and connect with Motorsport UK’s national club network.

South Oxon Car, founded in 2019, is one of the most competitive in Oxfordshire, from an average membership of just 135 and growing, we can often have up to five competing crews out on local events.

South Oxon Car Club’s Classic Ambassador, Timothy Sawyer, comments “South Oxon Car Club is thrilled to be taking part in a celebration of grassroots motorsport, and we hope to plot an enjoyable route for all those who want to try a Touring Assembly and enjoy a drive around the scenic Oxfordshire countryside.”
