Motorsport UK Shortlisted for Sports Industry Award

Friday 01 October 2021

Motorsport UK are thrilled to have reached the finals of the Sports Industry Awards 2021 after being shortlisted in the category Best COVID-19 Response by a Sport.

The Sports Business Awards recognise and reward achievement by the teams behind the scenes that facilitate sporting excellence and endeavours. They salute and champion resilience, adaptability and resourcefulness, and we have certainly witnessed those qualities in abundance within the UK motorsport community during the past year.

When the pandemic hit, Motorsport UK immediately set about protecting its clubs – the backbone of the sport – with a £1Million Club Continuity Fund. In addition to preparing extensive Restart Guidance for the community, we provided over 100,000 items of PPE to our volunteers, training webinars for 3,000 participants, and many new initiatives to help motorsport navigate its way through this challenging chapter whilst  also looking to the future with confidence. One of the few positives of the pandemic was that it allowed us to address key imperatives such as EDI, Sustainability, EV and Esports, and we have made good progress in those areas during the past 18 months. Most importantly, the support and dedication within the community has been tremendous and we are stronger together as a result.

Motorsport UK is proud to be shortlisted alongside other major National Governing Bodies:

  • English Football League – Football’s Response to Covid-19
  • ITTF Foundation – #TableTennisUnited
  • LTA – Covid-19 Response
  • Motorsport UK – Supporting & Sustaining UK Motorsport through the Covid-19 Pandemic
  • Premiership Rugby – Response to Lockdown
  • Swim England – Response to the Pandemic
  • Table Tennis England – Ready to Return
  • Volleyball World – Volleyball Nations League 2021

We look forward to the finals on 18 November 2021.
