Get up to speed this weekend: 6-8 August 2021

Friday 06 August 2021

As events resume throughout the UK this weekend, Motorsport UK would like to ask its member clubs to observe a minute’s silence at a convenient time, as a tribute to the invaluable contribution of all our volunteers in making motorsport happen. From car trials and karting to GB3 and GT Championships, here’s a small glimpse into what’s on, from Friday through to Sunday (6-8 August 2021).

The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championship – Round 4 at Rowrah

The Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championship is back in action as the IAME, KZ2 and Bambino classes head to Cumbria this weekend to compete on one of the most technical circuits on the event calendar. The 1030 metre track is laid at the bottom of a disused quarry that opened in 1963.

Get the latest updates on The Wera Tools British Kart Championship social media platform or catch all the live-action on the Alpha Live YouTube channel.

The SBD Motorsport UK HSA British Sprint Championship – at Kirkistown

At the last meeting, Steve Miles bounced back on the second day to take a pair of Run Off wins and a new class record to recover some championship points lost on the previous day. This weekend, we’re heading across the water for the next event of the SBD Motorsport UK HAS British Sprint Championship. Drivers will compete at the 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland Ltd Circuit which first held a race back in 1953.

The GB3 Championship – Round 13, 14 & 15 at Snetterton

The rebranded GB3 Championship (formerly The BRDC British Formula 3 Championship) will race at Snetterton under its new name for the first time this weekend. Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan has a 78-point lead over title rival Reece Ushijima in the driver standings. And thanks to Bart Horsten’s double pole at Spa Francorchamps, he is now tied with Zak, Reece and Aryton Simmons at the top of the 2021 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup.

Can a British driver bring it home for one or more races on the three-mile circuit? For the full timetable of sessions across the weekend and for information on how to watch, head over to The GB3 Championship website.

British GT Championship – Round 5 & 6 at Snetterton

Co-headlining the Norfolk circuit on Saturday and Sunday is Round 5 and 6 of the 2021 British GT Championship. Oman Racing by TF Sport will make its long-awaited return to contest the race weekend with Ahmad Al Harthy and Aston Martin Racing factory driver Charlie Eastwood.

The two drivers previously enjoyed success as team-mates in Blancpain, but can they bring the silverware home in the British GT Championship?

Joining Oman Racing by TF Sport this weekend on a race-by-race entry is G-Cat who has extended its British GT programme into the second half of the 2021 season.

From Spa to Snetterton, everything you need to know is here.

Motorsport UK British Trials Championships – Nationwide

Unlike some of the motorsport events listed, Car Trials is focused on how far you go and not how fast you get there. It’s a low speed but a highly challenging and accessible discipline, and both the Cymru Trial 2021 and Derwydd Car Trail will take place this weekend.

Contact your nearest car club for the latest information about car and sporting trials taking place near you.
