The second season of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme gets underway at Circuit Paul Ricard today. Motorsport UK invited the three strong contenders flying the flag for Britain to its new headquarters at Bicester Heritage to aid preparations for this week’s shootout (21-23 October).

Last month, Senior participants Jessica Edgar and Ella Stevens joined Junior competitor Skye Parker alongside reserve driver Macie Hitter to participate in several programmes throughout the day designed to aid their progression in the sport.

Mentoring the young girls on their media skills was award-winning television presenter and motorsport journalist Louise Goodman. The workshop included perfecting interviews, understanding their audience, and working alongside the press to achieve meaningful coverage. Tatiana Calderón joined virtually to re-cap her journey, from starting in the sport to her current programmes within the FIA World Endurance Championship with Richard Mille Racing, to becoming a test driver for the Alfa Romeo Racing Formula One team. She inspired the girls to continue their progression in motorsport.

FIA Girls on Track UK Programme Manager Jenny Tcherniak outlined the programme’s aims and objectives and discussed potential opportunities within the sport. To ensure the girls were prepared for the unexpected at the three-day shoot-out, they took part in a Batak Challenge to test their reaction skills and highlight future areas to focus on.

Motorsport UK CEO Hugh Chambers welcomed the girls to the governing body’s new headquarters and discussed the FIA Rising Stars shoot-out, reflecting on their accomplishments so far and future aspirations in motorsport.

With Ella withdrawing from the programme to attend the FIA Karting World Championships’ pre-event, Macie will join Team UK in the Junior category. Motorsport UK wishes Jessica, Skye and Macie the best of luck and looks forward to following their progress.
