National Motorsport Week – See you in 2025!

Wednesday 07 August 2024

From celebrating our 676 UK motor clubs to showcasing how to get involved in motorsport, we hope you enjoyed the 2024 edition of National Motorsport Week.

And it’s set to return from 10 to 20 July in 2025!

In 2024, we started the national campaign at a British Grand Prix that saw Sir Lewis Hamilton claim a record ninth victory. That came following a British lock out of the top three qualification spots the day prior. It was a packed weekend of racing at Silverstone, with Motorsport UK supporting the volunteers, celebrating the Academy drivers racing in the support categories and capturing an insight into how the famous event is delivered.

During the campaign, we celebrated our 12,000 registered volunteers and signposted how easy it is to get involved in our sport, with access to specialist training and the opportunities to learn and exchange new skills within our friendly community.

Motorsport UK StreetCar clubs came to the forefront, providing opportunities for participants to take part in events in their own vehicles and we encouraged our network of clubs to get involved and hold their own events to invite more people into motorsport.

We also saw around 130 events throughout the period including the blue riband Goodwood Festival of Speed and finishing off with an exciting battle to the finish at the London E-Prix . Such a breadth and depth of opportunities meant there was truly something for everyone to enjoy and take part in.

Our Chair, David Richards CBE, touched on Britain’s eminent position as a powerhouse of motorsport, thanks in part to the Drive to Survive Netflix phenomenon, which has around seven million viewers in the UK, of which 31% (or 2,108,000) are under 29. National Motorsport Week served as an initiative to convert this new legion of young motorsport fans into active participants to sustain the country’s leadership status for another generation.
