Motorsport UK, the governing body for four-wheeled motorsport in the United Kingdom, announces today the launch of its dedicated internet video portal, Motorsport UK TV. The platform will be a single destination for new and existing audiences to access video content across multiple disciplines of motorsport. The platform will grow in scale and content over the coming months and years.

Motorsport is a complex and highly technical sport, with multiple disciplines from rallying to circuit racing, karting to drag racing. With such a rich and varied calendar, short format videos, as popularised on social media channels, have become the favoured form of content consumption for much of news and entertainment. In addition, live streaming of sports events, otherwise known as OTT broadcast, has allowed previously unseen events to reach their fanbase in a cost effective and accessible manner.

Other sports combining athletic talent and technical expertise, such as cycling, have seen great success with a combination of educational, news and livestream videos on easy to access platforms such as YouTube. One such success is Global Cycling Network, which has become the go-to platform for all cycling-related video content.

At today’s launch, content on Motorsport UK TV includes training and circuit guides from driver coaching experts Driver61, a key series of Motorsport UK webinars on a wide variety of topics, the latest videos from British Championships, top tips for the StreetCar disciplines and insights into all motorsport disciplines for newcomers to the sport.

Over the coming months, Motorsport UK TV will then produce original content including exclusive interviews and behind the scenes videos, equipment ‘unboxings’ and explanations, masterclasses on fitness, as well as technical and practical guides featuring Academy coaches and user-generated content from our members. All content will be edited and managed by the communications team at Motorsport UK.

In collaboration with clubs and championships, this year alone Motorsport UK TV is planned to include close to 175 livestreams, becoming the ultimate destination to watch a weekend of multi-discipline motorsport, or catch-up using video on-demand after the event.

Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK: “Motorsport UK TV is an exciting new internet platform that will bring our community even closer to every aspect of motorsport via the most dynamic media out there: video. We are thrilled to launch this breakthrough offering, which we hope will inspire and educate both existing and new motorsport fans. We think this will be a game-changer for the way fans and participants find and enjoy their motorsport content, while also extending the appeal of motorsport to newcomers.”

Stephane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group: “It’s great to see Motorsport UK provide its community with a valuable resource such as Motorsport UK TV that reaches beyond SRO’s own GT World YouTube channel. This platform is a brilliant way for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship and all British championships to extend their reach and be featured alongside original content that appeals to both new and existing motorsport audiences.”

Scott Mansell, Founder and MD of Driver61: “Driver61 provides insight and guidance to a worldwide motorsport audience. We’re delighted to be featured on Motorsport UK TV to provide valuable expertise to an extensive community. It’s an exciting opportunity to bring motorsport content together and see original material produced and shared.”

Ben Taylor, British Automobile Racing Club CEO: “BARC produces a significant amount of video and live programming to serve our members and promote our events. Motorsport UK TV is a great way for BARC, and all clubs, to place our content and showcase brilliant motorsport video.”
