Electrifying future for Motorsport UK Bambino with launch of Electric Bambino
As part of its strategic vision to recognise the development of future propulsion solutions, Motorsport UK is pleased to confirm the Motorsport UK Bambino Kart Class will have an electrified powertrain option, Electric Bambino, from 2024.
Tender applications (Electric Powertrain Supply – Bambino Karts from 2024) will open at the beginning of May for interested parties. All potential applicants are invited to connect with Motorsport UK for further information and applicable dates.
The Motorsport UK Bambino Kart Class sees six- to eight-year-olds race in specially-designed, appropriately sized, Motorsport UK-registered Bambino karts currently powered by a small petrol engine that delivers a top speed of around 35mph.
Motorsport UK Electric Bambino will see karters use an electrified powertrain that will be similar in performance to the current Comer C50s. The Motorsport UK Bambino internal combustion engine will remain eligible for use at events nationwide during a transitional period from the 2024 season onwards.
The Bambino class will thus retain its famed wheel-to-wheel character, which has made it the starting point for multiple top-level junior drivers, including Zak Drummond, Freddie Slater, Nathan Tye and Arvid Lindblad.
