Lwi Edwards keeps Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship crown for second year running
Wrexham based driver Lwi Edwards, has kept his Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship title for another year, just ahead of the FIA Motorsport Games, taking place in Valencia this weekend.
Held at Snetterton last weekend, Edwards finished the championship with 220 points, he commented “It feels great to win the championship the second year running, we’ve been through a lot this season, a lot of ups and downs, but with everyone pushing me and the team supporting me I got there in the end.”
Lwi will be competing in Drifting in his 1997 BMW E3v6 Coupe, with a LSX376 V8, Magnuson Supercharger at the bespoke drift track at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, with drivers competing by aiming to accurately follow a predetermined course while maintaining a constant rear-wheel spin.
This year will see 82 participating nations and over 700 competitors take part in the third edition of the biennial event. Team UK will be comprised of 24 competitors – the largest representation of UK motorsport talent to date.
As he prepared the car for this weekend, Edwards added, “I’m feeling pretty confident, the car has had a few upgrades and been checked over many times, we will see how it goes here in Valencia.”
Three two-hour Free Practice sessions staged between Friday and Saturday. Qualifying on Saturday.
The final will be streamed on the FIA Motorsport Games YouTube channel from 14:15 (CET) this Sunday.
