Loughborough Car Club to direct AutoSOLO Test at Festival celebrating UK motorsport
On 8 September, Motorsport UK will host its inaugural StreetCar Festival at its Bicester Motion home, celebrating the UK’s vibrant grassroots motorsport community.
Loughborough Car Club, who play a pivotal role in the Disabled Drivers Scholarship programme with Motorsport UK, will be leading the AutoSOLO test at the festival, providing a competition test layout on which competitors will try to get the fastest time in their own vehicles.
Attendees will need a ticket to attend the festival and watch UK car club entrants try out the AutoSOLO test, during which they will manoeuvrer their own vehicle around a series of slaloms and longer turns, testing precision and skill.
Launched in 2022, StreetCar makes grassroots motorsport accessible, encouraging anyone to get behind the wheel of their car and join an event at their local motor club. Disciplines including Autotest, Car Trials, Cross-Country and Road Rallying can be enjoyed for minimal cost, with a standard unmodified road car and a free RS Clubman licence available online.
Many of the twelve StreetCar disciplines will be showcased, including a dedicated AutoSOLO course, allowing visitors to get their first taste of motorsport and to connect with Motorsport UK clubs.
Richard Egger, Competition Secretary, at Loughborough Car Club comments, “The club believes that a thriving grassroots sector is vital to the clubs stability. Without a strong entry level all the rest of the Motorsport pyramid is weakened.”
Loughborough Car Club will be attending the Bicester-based festival, with club members on hand to encourage attendees to get involved in UK motorsport.
