Girls on Track joins Silverstone’s #GirlsWill campaign
This past weekend, Girls on Track UK held a meet and greet at Silverstone Museum, as part of its #GirlsWill campaign, inspiring more females to consider a career in motorsport.
This event was followed by a Motorsport UK Inclusion panel on Wednesday, showcasing both the Girls on Track and Race for Diversity programmes to a new audience.
The museum’s ‘Girls Go Free’ initiative has provided free entry to girls under 18, in a bid to encourage more women and girls to explore the options available to them.
The event saw Girls on Track Ambassador and Clerk of the Course Carol Glenn engage with women within the Aston Martin team to share their experiences.
Current Girls on Track members were invited to contribute in a series of roles.
Motorsport Content Creator and Podcast host, Saira Ahmed, who hosted the day, commented, “It was an amazing day with brilliant women inspiring the next generation of women in motorsport. I could not have asked for a better experience for my first time hosting.”
Ellie Agar-Brennan, Junior Graphic Designer for Aston Martin F1, added, “It’s incredible to be able to contribute to a sport moving towards a more inclusive future as a member of an F1 team, instead of just a young woman with a love of fast cars.”
Jenny Fletcher, Girls on Track UK Programme Manager, added, “Silverstone’s #GirlsWill Campaign is a celebration of women and their role in motorsport, an ethos that aligns closely with our Girls on Track UK programme and the opportunities we aim to showcase. It was a pleasure to run such a productive morning from a location that is synonymous with the heart of British motorsport.”
