F4 looks to uncover the next Lando Norris
The 2025 Wera Tools British F4 Championship, certified by FIA, bursts into life this weekend at Donington Park with a new title partner plus an exciting new crop of talented teenagers all setting out on a motor sport trajectory towards the hallowed ground of Formula 1.
Lando Norris won the title in 2015 and Oscar Piastri finished runner-up two seasons later, so the pathway to the very top is clear for all to see.
Between now and the start of October, this year’s grid of young hopefuls will have 30 races to prove themselves as stars of the future, over ten triple-header race weekends. Eight of these will support the high-profile British Touring Car Championship while, with an eye on what’s to come, the other two will be staged on the illustrious Silverstone and Zandvoort Grand Prix tracks.
Such is the series’ global prominence that hot prospects representing no fewer than 11 different nationalities will be lining up for the eagerly anticipated series opener at Donington.
Anglo-Algerian Leo Robinson is the highest ranked of last year’s drivers making a return – he finished sixth in 2024, winning three races. Another notable returnee is last year’s Rookie Cup winner Martin Molnár from Hungary.
Jimmy Piszcyk is also a potential title contender making a welcome comeback. He finished fifth in 2023 with two race wins before returning home to dominate the Australian F4 Championship in 2025. Swedish starlet August Raber is another to watch – he topped the timesheets in official F4 Free Practice held at Donington Park earlier this week.
There are some significant entries among the British contingent, too. Ethan Jeff-Hall marked his card in 2024 by winning both the OK World Karting and Ginetta Junior Championships while Thomas Bearman is the younger brother of Haas F1 driver Ollie Bearman.
Fresh from a race win in the last F1 ACADEMY round in Jeddah, Ella Lloyd will be looking for further success in mixed company at Donington, as will fellow F1 ACADEMY racer Alba Larsen – she had two solid fifth place finishes in Saudi Arabia.
With highly-promising Deagen Fairclough, last year’s record-breaking British F4 champion, further underlining his talent by scooping the prized Silverstone Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award – together with £200,000 and an Aston Martin F1 test drive – this year’s F4 title race is sure to be all the more hotly contested.
UK viewers can savour Sunday’s race action on ITV4 while those further afield can follow a live stream from Donington via the official BTCC YouTube channel here and British F4 YouTube.
