F1 in Schools National Final 2021
Today is the ultimate day of the F1 in Schools National Final 2021, which started on Wednesday. The UK’s leading STEM challenge winners will receive their prize during the live YouTube Awards Show from 3pm, including the Motorsport UK Girls on Track UK trophy, which Programme Manager Jenny Tcherniak will present. The governing body’s Sport, Safety & Technical Director John Ryan will also be presenting a special Scrutineering Award.
Every girl who participated in the season finale was invited to answer three qualifying questions to be in with the chance of winning the inaugural Girls on Track UK award. Three finalists were chosen from all the entrants and one-to-one Zoom call before the overall winner is announced at today’s Awards Show.
In 2021, F1 in Schools came along to support the Girls on Track UK school events and provide further insight about its programme. F1 in Schools invited students aged 9-19 years old to design, test and manufacture their own racing cars before putting the finishing touches to their marketing displays, portfolios and presentations to submit for the judging panel. At a special event at Silverstone, during the British Grand Prix week, F1 in Schools brought along their cars, portfolio, and the start/stop reaction system.
Girls on Track UK is an initiative to inspire girls and women into seeing and believing that there is a rightful and valuable place for them in motorsport through a series of educational events. The Girls on Track UK community meet successful women in motorsport from all different career paths.
Everyone at Motorsport UK would like to congratulate all the teams for making the F1 in Schools National Final. For more information on the global Formula 1® educational STEM initiative, click here, or follow #F1STEAMGB on Twitter.
