F1 75 Live dazzles at London’s O2
The UK was at the forefront of global motorsport once more on Tuesday 18 February as F1 75 Live dazzled thousands in attendance at the O2 Arena in London and millions more watching worldwide.
F1 75 Live was a true celebration of the championship, celebrating its 75th anniversary and the event brought out stars of the sport and a passionate legion of fans.
Of the ten teams unveiling their liveries, seven of them are based in the UK, highlighting the UK as the epicenter of global motorsport. Aston Martin (Silverstone), McLaren (Woking) and Williams (Grove) all race under the British flag with Haas (Banbury), Mercedes (Brackley) and Red Bull (Milton Keynes) using the UK as their HQ.
The livery reveals brought out ten separate performances, ranging from light shows, performances, specially crafted films and more. Aston Martin paid homage to their racing heritage with a special nod to James Bond – 007, synonymous with the brand. The newly named Atlassian Williams Racing team also paid tribute to their founder, Frank Williams, with James Vowles unveiling their new livery.
McLaren laid out a special line-up of their famous race cars, made famous by Emerson Fittipaldi, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and Sir Lewis Hamilton before showcasing their 2025 colours.
Across the 20-driver grid, four of them are British with Hamilton, George Russell, Lando Norris and Ollie Bearman flying the flag. The quartet have all come through the UK karting pathway, notably winning British karting titles, as did Alex Albon.
“Such a great night,” said seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who is set for his debut season with Ferrari, wearing the famous red colour of the team for the first time.
“The word that I’m thinking of is invigorated because I feel so full of life, so much energy because everything is new and just focused on what’s up ahead. I’m so proud to be part of the team, something new and exciting.”
Next week all 10 cars will head to Bahrain for their first proper runs ahead of the season opener in Australia mid-March.
