Double F3 victory for Motorsport UK Academy driver Arvin Lindblad

Sunday 07 July 2024

PREMA Racing’s Arvid Lindblad made it two Formula 3 wins out of two after winning a dramatic wet-dry Silverstone Feature Race ahead of teammate Gabriel Minì and Rodin Motorsport’s Callum Voisin.

The Motorsport UK Academy driver had won just over 12-hours earlier in the Sprint Race to complete a fantastic weekend. And to continue the British and Motorsport UK Academy success, Voisin secured his first F3 podium of the season.

It could have been a different result for Voisin. After several changes in position throughout the pack on lap 3, he went round the outside of Max Esterson but left the track, gaining an unfair advantage in pulling off the move.

He managed to extend his lead to five-seconds at one stage but he was handed a 10-second penalty for his move. And as Lindblad survived running on slick tyres before charging through on a drying track to finish second, Voisin’s penalty promoted Lindblad to the top of the podium as he fell to third.

“Just won the Feature Race at Silverstone, what a race,” expressed Lindblad. “I have no words, nothing to say, it was so sketchy out there with the conditions changing at all times, but we stuck to the slicks and it paid off in the end and do the double here at Silverstone, at home, it’s beyond my wildest dreams, so with my family here and everyone, it’s such an amazing result, so thank you everyone that has supported me and we look forward to the future races.”

Luke Browning, another product of the Motorsport UK Academy, started the day on pole but fell to eighth in a race packed full of incidents.
