Exemption letters are available for Elite Sportspersons and Ancillary Sportspersons as defined by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). In order to apply for an exemption letter, you must hold an International Officials Licence, or an International Competition Licence issued by a recognised FIA ASN, or work for a team with an International Entrants Licence issued by a recognised FIA ASN.
International and Domestic Elite sportspersons/ancillary sportspersons must undergo a COVID-19 test no more than 3 days before entering the UK irrespective if they are granted an Exemption letter. Evidence of a negative COVID-19 test must be provided for entry to the United Kingdom.
International and Domestic Elite sportspersons/ancillary sportspersons must also book and undertake a ‘Testing Package’ when arriving to England irrespective if they are granted an Exemption Letter. The Testing Package required will depend on the length of the stay as follows (a stay of less than 2 days will not require a Testing Package): A stay of less than 8 days will require a day 2 test to be booked and undertaken; A stay of more than 8 days will require a day 2 and a day 8 test to be booked and undertaken.
Letters provided are on the assumption you will be landing into an English port. If you intend to return to Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales you will be provided with a letter that reflects the legislation of the devolved nation and must continue to follow local government guidance.
Once an exemption letter has been issued, the administration fee cannot be refunded.
If you are part of a large motorsport team, it is advised that the Team Coordinator/Team Manager complete this form for all members of the team and to act as a central point of communication (and where applicable for payment). The application form must be completed for each member of the team that requires an exemption letter.
Only one parent or guardian is eligible to apply for an exemption letter where they are accompanying a child under the age of 18 years.
