Motorsport UK community funded Pinzgauer Ambulance delivered to Ukraine
The Motorsport UK community funded Pinzgauer 6×6 armoured ambulance has been delivered to Ukraine after a fundraising campaign concluded.
Motorsport UK began its fundraising in 2022 in solidarity of the Federation Automobile d’Ukraine (FAU), with a £60,000 target to ensure for the safe passage of the ambulance and any necessary supplies.
Members of the Motorsport UK community have been active in their support and promotion. The Northern Ireland motorsport community and British Motorsport Trust provided donations and messages of support, joining further donors such as the BTRDA, the Association of Motorsport Recovery Operators and many others.
While the majority of donations were gifted via an online ‘GoFundMe’ campaign, members of the Motorsport UK community also provided offline donations which were collected and ensured that the final fundraising target was met.
Hugh Chambers, Chief Executive Officer Motorsport UK, commented, “It is thanks to the support and solidarity expressed by our UK motorsport community that we have met our fundraising goal and successfully delivered the Pinzgauer to Ukraine.
“Motorsport UK stands united with Aleksandr Feldman, the President of the FAU, the Ukrainian motorsport community and the Ukrainian people, and the resounding interest we have had in our collective fundraising effort shows our community’s willingness to provide a small gesture of our support to a nation in need.”
The campaign also saw members of the Motorsport UK community show their support for the campaign, including Motorsport UK licence holder and Hillclimb competitor, Christopher Wigdor, who swapped the livery of his 1967 Mallock Mk 6B/8 in period 1600cc Formula 2 trim to Ukraine’s national colours.
Fynn Watt, a Motorsport UK licence holder and Rallycross competitor, who has also been supporting initiatives to get vehicles and supplies to Ukraine medical teams, channelled his passion for motorsport into a life-saving mission. In 2022, he founded “Driving Ukraine”, an organisation delivering vehicles and essential supplies to combat medic teams on Ukraine’s frontline. In 2024 alone, the charity transported 50 vehicles and organised 15 convoys to the war-torn country.
“At the start of the war, I couldn’t just stand by and watch,” Fynn explained, drawing on his family’s motorsport legacy, and a personal history of racing Suzuki Swifts in rallycross championships. “Within two weeks, I was driving a van of supplies to Ukraine.”
What started as one mission has grown into the delivery of 132 cas-evac vehicles and over £800,000 in aid. “A highlight was coordinating the Motorsport UK armoured ambulance, including procurement, paperwork, and transport to Kyiv. We send five to six vehicles each month, along with generators, solar chargers like EcoFlows, and trauma medical aid,” Fynn says, crediting Motorsport UK and the British motorsport community for helping turn his initiative into a vital lifeline for Ukraine.
