Catching up with Noah Wolfe…
It’s been a busy start to the season for 15-year-old Noah Wolfe, taking home the KZ2 Motorsport UK ‘O’ Plate Championship podium, during his third ever race meeting.
Wolfe now takes his collection to five British titles, 26 race wins and podiums, finishing on the podium in four out of eight British Senior X30 Championships Finals last year.
The driver now turns his attention back to racing at the very highest level of karting in the direct drive OK class and KZ2 class in the Champions of the Future Championships and FIA European Championships for the remainder of 2025.
The KZ class is an incredibly popular class for karters aged 15 and over, requiring skill and tactics to navigate complex circuits.
What age did you start karting, and what made you decide to give it a go?
My first karting experience was when I was five and a half. My Uncle convinced my Dad to take me to a local outdoor karting centre called Daytona at Sandown, I absolutely loved it and got the bug immediately.
Which famous drivers inspired you to choose karting over a different sport?
Once I found karting there was no question, I wanted to be a driver, and as my passion has developed I have followed lots of drivers which makes it difficult to pick one because ever driver is special in different areas. But as an all-rounder, I would always look up to Lando Norris because he has been through everything, I am going through at the minute during my own karting career which makes me believe in the journey we are on.
What does a typical race day look like for you? Do you have a preferred breakfast?
A normal day would be wake up in the motorhome at the track and then get ready for the day. Breakfast is cereal and then I go to the paddock to meet the team and talk about what the plans are for the day – it’s then up to me to go execute it on track. Then after racing and once all my schoolwork is done the best thing to do is chill out which I enjoy by either watching films or enjoying the activities at the track like padel or football with friends in preparation for the next day.
Congratulations on your very recent win at Shenington, what were your aims for the day? How does it feel to win the KZ2 Motorsport UK ‘O’ Plate Championship 2025, during your third ever race meeting?
I wasn’t expecting to win as it was my 3rd race meeting in KZ2, so we were focused on learning starts and learning how to manage the tyres on the kart. So, I tried to stay out of trouble in the heats, so I had the best chance in the final and then it all came together for the final. My focus was full KartMasters mode which meant I could really challenge for the win as I realised I had the speed and that meant I did some amazing overtakes which ultimately won the race for me. The feeling going over the line was insane I couldn’t believe it. But I can’t thank my team VAR by Birel and Jade Racing enough for the amazing work and of course my family for their support.
What are your aims for Champions of the Future?
This is what I have mainly been training for during the last couple of years, so my aim is to do the best job for the team as I am a factory driver for VAR by Birel and my pace in testing has been very strong so if it comes together, we are looking at a win.
Do you have any advice or tips for anyone considering getting into karting?
The best thing to do is to find a local track or kart centre and find a group of people that allow you to enjoy it. I found the more I enjoyed being in the kart and learning from all of the amazing people that have helped me over the years the more and more I wanted to do it as the better you get the more enjoyable it becomes. You can never learn to much and every day I am still learning lots along the way.
