Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics will run punch-hunt discipline at inaugural grassroots motorsport festival

Wednesday 21 August 2024

Local motor club, Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics, will lead the Punch Hunt discipline at Motorsport UK’s first ever grassroots motorsport event: StreetCar Festival on 8 September.

Drivers will need their own 4×4 vehicle to take part in the course, which will be planned around Bicester Motion’s off-road track, where Motorsport UK is based.

Similar to a motorsport trials event, teams will navigate the course and be required to collect ‘punches’ on a piece of card, from hole punches tied to various trees and obstacles. Competitors cannot leave the confines of their vehicle to get a punch.

Launched in 2022, StreetCar makes grassroots motorsport accessible, encouraging anyone to get behind the wheel of their car and join an event at their local motor club. Disciplines including Autotest, Car Trials, Cross-Country and Road Rallying can be enjoyed for minimal cost, with a standard unmodified road car and a free RS Clubman licence available online.

The StreetCar Festival will take place on 8 September, celebrating the UK’s vibrant grassroots motorsport community.  Attendees will need a ticket to attend the event, with the option to take part in many of the 12 StreetCar disciplines, enjoy their first taste of motorsport and connect with Motorsport UK’s national club network.

Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics has been running for over 20 years, welcoming Land Rover enthusiasts on the first Thursday of every month.

Rachel Taylor, Chair of Aylesbury Landrover Fanatics, comments “We are looking forward to introducing attendees of StreetCar Festival’s Punch Hunt to how much fun can be had in a 4X4. If you are considering attending the festival, why not give it a go?”
