About Us

Race for Diversity

Race for Diversity is a programme which aims to inspire and encourage young people to participate in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) and then later pursue a career in Motorsport. Race for Diversity is essential for the impact and legacy of motorsport by engaging and inspiring talent at early stages so we can shift the dial in cultivating a more inclusive and diverse motorsport culture for years to come.

The varied range of opportunities within motorsport means that there is something for everyone, regardless of interests, gender and race. Race for Diversity is proud to be an inclusive environment and welcomes people from all backgrounds who would like to be part of the community. Any young person aged 14-24 is welcome to join Race for Diversity as it aims to encourage a more inclusive and diverse culture. It is our goal to engage and support young people from underrepresented, racially diverse, and low socio-economic backgrounds.

Our mission is to diversify paddocks across the UK. Together with the power of our partnerships, we aim to grow diversity in motorsport.

Schools

Race for Diversity offers a two-year partnership with schools in which we run hands on activities, careers sessions and events to help bring STEAM to life and encourage young people to get involved with motorsport. This can range from internal activation days to external inspirational school trips.  Interested? Email racefordiversity@motorsportuk.org on behalf of your school and kick start your Race for Diversity partnership!

Case Study: Do not just take our word for it! Hear from Marlon a teacher from Islington about his experience with R4D:

“Our involvement with Motorsport UK over the last year means we have a great insight into the aims and objects of the various projects, Race for Diversity. We have attended 2 events to date as a group of diverse students and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences as we gained more insights into the various jobs available in motorsports for all genders and races.”

Community

Race for Diversity is proud to offer a safe and inclusive space through our online community – nurturing our members’ passion and talent for STEAM and Motorsport. We encourage members to ask advice from one another and showcase their successes to inspire others; whether this be a podium in a race, a good result in an engineering exam or getting a job working within motorsport, our community shares and celebrates it all.

Join our discord – make connections, find out about exciting new opportunities, and build your motorsport network!

Community Events

If you are looking for even more, Race for Diversity hosts community led in-person events at different points in the year, bringing their online community to life and up close to the action.

Advice from Evelkah Powell, Manager of Race for Diversity:

“My piece of advice to a teacher of a young person passionate about Motorsport and STEAM, is to reach out and email us! Register your school and find out about all the ways we can support you in supporting them. We want to destigmatize motorsport and any notion of who does or does not belong in the industry. We want to highlight the number of different career opportunities available to young people and we want to do it in a fun and engaging way – email us and find out more about our partnerships!”
