The long weekend saw Barn Hill Farm, near Milton Keynes, as the setting for this year’s edition of the Association of Land Rover Clubs (ALRC) National Rally, a key event in the Cross Country calendar since 1955. 

Over the weekend, competing regional clubs and drivers were able to test their skills across a range of competitions, with the main aim of achieving the lowest score or time possible. Saturday saw the action kick off, with the Cross Country Vehicle Trials (CCV) setting the bar high with over 100 competitors, followed in the evening by the crowd pleasing Team Recovery.

Sunday morning saw teams test their mettle in the Road Taxed Vehicle (RTV) event across an, at times, challenging course. While future talented drivers took part in the TYRO, an event that is designed for Novice drivers to get into Cross Country in a safe environment. 

The sun shone on Bank Holiday Monday for the high-octane Competitive Safari, with vehicles making the most of the jumps on a technical course – truly a sight to behold for spectators. 

Liz Welch, National Rally Liaison Officer commented, “This weekend has gone really well with the weather almost on our side. We’ve had some high numbers of competitors, which ticks a massive box for us.” 

Steve Blakeman, Head of Cross Country & Clubsport, Motorsport UK, added, “This is an incredibly important event for the Cross Country calendar, the ALRC accounts for about 40 percent of participants throughout the year. The brilliant thing about this event is that there is such a wide spread of people and vehicles, ranging from vehicles from the 1950s up to those that are less than six months old. It’s a fantastic event which brings a lot of family and friends together, and hopefully we can showcase the sport as it’s the largest untapped sport in the UK.”
