Young Photographer of the Year announced

Monday 08 January 2024

Motorsport UK is pleased to confirm Dom Vincent has won the 2023 MPB Young Photographer of the Year award for his outstanding photographic portfolio. Established in 2002, the Motorsport UK Young Media Awards celebrate and show many of the industry’s leading young media professionals in the fields of journalism and photography.

The judging panel, comprised of industry professionals, was impressed with Dom’s composition, range of shots and creativity.

Dom has covered various GT and endurance championships within the UK and beyond. He was inspired by motorsport from a very young age, with a passion for photography developing later on. From 2019, he has spent much of his free time photographing racing cars.

Dom commented: “”I am extremely honoured to win the prestigious Motorsport UK Young Photographer of the Year award. Ever since my journey in motorsport photography started back in 2019, I have dreamed of achieving this honour. To think it’s actually happened, it’s definitely not sunk in just yet!

“I want to say a big thank you to the guys at GT Report for the opportunity and continued support to prove myself and help me join an incredible list of hugely accomplished photographers who previously won the award and for this huge milestone in my journey.”

Ben Lawrence was Highly Commended for demonstrating maturity beyond his young years. Ben, aged just 14, has extensively covered rallying on the domestic scene.

Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK, added: “The quality of this year’s applicants was extremely high and it was a pleasure to review the submissions. It was also pleasing to see the breadth of disciplines the applicants covered, showing motorsport continues to inspire creativity in a multitude of ways.

“Dom’s portfolio was rich with evocative imagery of GT cars in many different lights and settings, truly showing the rich diversity of the discipline. I am excited to see how he progresses with this award.

“A special word for Ben, whose rallying portfolio was incredibly dynamic. His passion for the sport was crystal clear and we are delighted to help him in this early stage of his career and to realise that potential.”

Dom will collect his prize, a cheque for £1,000 to help further his career and a £1,500 MPB voucher, alongside Young Journalist of the Year, Samuel Coop, at Motorsport UK’s annual Night of Champions, held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, in January.
