12 days of StreetCar: Here’s what we got up to in 2024…
Before we close our Motorsport UK HQ for the Christmas period, here’s a quick look back at all things StreetCar that took place in 2024…
We started off the year embracing Cross Country, the opportunity to get out and about and embrace the mud.
In February we showcased the might MINI at Maidstone & Mid-Kent Motor Club, while in March we caught up with Katie Smith as we celebrated women in motorsport.
In April we caught up with Aiden Medford, winner of the Oxford Motor Club Rob Smith Award and the next generation of StreetCar.
In May, four drivers were awarded the StreetCar Disabled Drivers Scholarship: Dean Linnell, Dominic Pearson, Ian Dance and Luke Delahunty, who will be able to access adapted vehicles at StreetCar affiliated clubs in their local area.
June was all about understanding the co-driver role and ability to work as a team, no matter the level at which you are taking part.
2024 was the inaugural edition of National Motorsport Week – set to return from 10 to 20 July in 2025 – a chance to celebrate our 676 StreetCar Clubs across the UK.
In August we shared some highlights from our inaugural StreetCar festival, celebrating StreetCar and our vibrant community.
September saw the Car Trial season return after it’s summer break, with Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club hosting their famous Brian Lewis Trial.
With students heading back for a new term, October saw us focus on the UK’s student community – inviting them to try out grassroots motorsport. Local club, Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation (OUMF) is now the first student car club that is a fully-fledged member of our StreetCar programme.
In November we caught up with Liam Brotherhood, aged 15 from Cannock and District Car. Inspired by his dad, Liam has had a successful season, with the club and continues to progress in his own motorsport journey.
